More than 100 years of innovative development
CJ Automotive is a highly acclaimed global company within design and manufacturing of pedal systems. As a youngster, founder Claes Johansson learned sheet metal processing and helped his father and grandfather manufacture steel household appliances, which were later sold at various markets. A lot has happened since then, but their endeavour for continuous improvement is still part of the company's DNA.

As a youngster In 1895 , Claes Johansson founded the company and increased the production of sheet metal wares. After he passed away in 1933, one of his eight children, Agne Claesson, bought the company from his siblings and continued his father’s work. The main focus back then was various types of agricultural equipment, and later, they added a wide range of household appliances for the Swedish company called Nils-Johan.

At the beginning of the 1960s, it was time for the third generation of the Johansson family to take over the reins. The company entered into an important collaboration with Volvo. During this period, the company shifted its attention towards the automotive industry, but products for the electronic industry also played an important role during the 1970s and 1980s.

The company’s tubular arm concept was developed during the 1960s, and this idea sprung from the front fork of a bike. It also proved to be the gateway into the automotive industry. The concept in its advanced format is still an essential part of what we offer.

In order to finance the massive expansion during the 1980s, the company entered the stock exchange.

During the 1990s, the company became part of Teleflex Automotive, a large international corporation, and CJ Automotive went from having mainly supplied the Swedish automotive industry to add global firms such as GM, Ford and JLR to their customer portfolio.

Since 2009, the company has been privately owned and is called CJ Automotive. The main driving force in the company is to be a truly global partner to the customers and strengthen that relationship.

In 2011 , the company launched the first wholly-owned entity in Chongqing , China.
